We know how
procurement works.

Most web agencies don't. We've delivered WCAG 2.1 AA compliant platforms for Devon County Council, Cornwall Council, the Met Office, and Active Partnerships across two counties. We understand the process, the paperwork, and the patience it takes.

Public sector work is different.

The brief is more complex. The sign-off chain is longer. The accessibility requirements are non-negotiable legal obligations, not optional extras. The content management system needs to work for a communications officer who isn't a developer. And once you've launched, you're expected to still be there three years later.

We've been doing this long enough to know what public sector clients actually need: an agency that doesn't disappear after the invoice is paid. Our relationship with Devon County Council spans multiple projects across several years and different departments. That doesn't happen by accident.

We use Elementor Pro for public sector builds — not because it's our favourite tool, but because it's the right one here. The page builder is familiar, the interface is accessible to non-technical editors, and it's built around a structure that survives handovers and staff changes.

Devon Climate Emergency

One of our longest-standing DCC relationships — a content-rich public engagement platform for Devon's climate emergency initiative. WCAG 2.1 AA compliant, structured for regular updates by non-technical communications staff. We manage GA4 reporting, handle broken link remediation, and provide ongoing hosting and support. The kind of project that demonstrates what a long-term public sector relationship actually looks like.

Four things most agencies get wrong

Procurement isn't a barrier — it's a process
Most agencies treat public sector procurement as an obstacle. We've navigated it enough times to know what's required: project plans, accessibility statements, data processing agreements, sign-off documentation, staged payment structures. We write the paperwork because we've done it before, not because we've outsourced it to a legal team.
WCAG 2.1 AA is not an add-on
For publicly funded organisations it's a legal obligation under the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018. We build to AA as standard — colour contrast, keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, focus states, alt text, form labelling, skip navigation. Accessibility statements are produced as part of every project. We don't charge extra for compliance.
Your editors aren't developers
Your communications team needs to update the site without phoning an agency. We build with Elementor Pro — structured page templates, clearly labelled content zones, and a consistent editing experience across the whole site. We provide handover documentation and editor training as standard, not as a paid extra. Most of our public sector clients have been updating their own content for years without our involvement in day-to-day edits.
Relationships outlast projects
We don't hand over a website and disappear. Devon County Council has worked with us across multiple departments over several years. Active Devon and Active Cornwall are on ongoing hosting and support retainers. When something goes wrong at 4pm on a Friday — and it occasionally does — there's a person who picks up the phone, not a ticketing system. That continuity matters in organisations where website staff change frequently.
Common questions

The questions public sector clients most often ask before working with us — answered directly.

Talk to us
Yes. We have experience with public sector procurement processes for Devon County Council, Cornwall Council, Active Devon, Active Cornwall, and the Met Office. We understand the documentation, sign-off stages, and compliance requirements involved — and we handle the paperwork without making it your problem.
Yes — WCAG 2.1 AA is our standard for all public sector builds. This covers colour contrast ratios, keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, alt text, focus indicators, form labelling, and skip navigation links. We produce accessibility statements as part of every project delivery, and we don't charge extra for compliance because it's built into how we work.
Yes. We build public sector sites on Elementor Pro with structured, editor-friendly page templates. Your communications team can update content, add pages, and manage news without any developer involvement. We provide handover documentation and editor training as part of every project, not as a paid extra.
We structure projects around clear review stages with defined feedback windows and a single point of feedback consolidation on your side. For NPOP — which involved the Met Office, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, the National Oceanography Centre, and several government research bodies — we managed the process without requiring each partner to have their own separate sign-off track. Clear staging prevents the feedback loops that derail public sector projects.
We don't disappear. Most public sector clients move onto a hosting and support retainer after launch — Professional tier at £75/month covers managed WordPress hosting on Cloudways LiteSpeed, SSL, daily backups, plugin updates, WCAG monitoring, and a 4-hour emergency response. Devon County Council projects have been with us for years. Active Cornwall and Active Devon are on ongoing retainers. When something goes wrong, there's a person who responds — not a ticket queue.
Yes. The Met Office and NPOP partnership demonstrates national-level public sector delivery. We're also active in the BANES and Bristol area. Geography isn't a barrier for the right project — procurement, WCAG compliance, and multi-stakeholder delivery are the same wherever you are.
